FO Scholarship Application - Due April 1 (Annually)

The SD Governmental Finance Officers' Association awards scholarship funds annually.

An applicant may apply for one of the following Scholarship categories per year.

FO School Scholarship Funds:

  • Applicant must be from a second or third class municipality.
  • A copy of applicant’s City Councils’ approval to attend FO School must be received with the application.
  • The Scholarship fund allows for up to $800.00 per year. These funds may be awarded to more than one applicant at the discretion of the Board.

Professional Development Class or College Course Scholarship Funds:

  • Applicant must be from a second or third class municipality if city is paying expenses. A copy of the City Council’s approval to attend the course must be received with the application.
  • Applicant can be from any size municipality if applicant is paying the expenses.
  • A copy of the course description or agenda that includes the cost, must be included with the application.
  • The Scholarship fund allows for up to $800 per year. These funds may be awarded to more than one applicant at the discretion of the Board. Reimbursement for expenses will be made upon receipt of documentation of course completion from award recipient.

All applications must be submitted to the SDML, 208 Island Drive, Ft. Pierre, SD 57532 or faxed to 605-224-8655 no later than April 1st each year to be eligible. Applications will be reviewed and notification of award given prior to Finance Officers’ School in June.
